KISTI

An ongoing partnership between the National Center for Supercomputing Applications and the Korean Institute for Science and Technology Information has developed a prototype non-domain specific platform called the KNSG (KISTI-NCSA Science Gateway) application framework for building domain-specific HPC applications. This application framework provides a core set of reusable components for building new applications.

The developed KNSG application framework provides a core set of reusable components for building new applications. For example, eAIRS RCP uses the framework for setting up and submitting HPC jobs on both Teragrid and KISTI supercomputing resources and then monitors job progress through job monitoring components provided by the framework.

*UPDATE*

The EDISON-CFD simulation portal, developed using the KNSG Application Framework (KNSG-AF), successfully served computational fluid dynamics courses in the Fall 2012 semester. In particular, the scalability and usability has been significantly improved since the Spring 2012 semester. The refactoring of Cyberintegrator played a crucial role in this improvement.

With solid set of backend services, the project for year 2013 will focus on following goals:

1. enhancing the web application by using HTML5
2. enhancing the Cyberintegrator Scientific Workflow System with improved workflow and hardening the scalability of the service
3. investigating the integration of Cyberintegrator with Medici
4. supporting the current EDISON-CFD technologies
